Newcastle played our tactics of setting back and hitting on break.

Need pace going forward versus Chelsea next week. Benrahma should come in and play 4 at the back.

So you're blaming Diop for Dawson being worse than him the last few games?

Re: ⚽ Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 3-2
Think was forced on him due to injury to Cresswell but have we won a game playing 5 at the back (without playing Masuaku?)

Our defence has fallen apart since Diop came back into them team. Would happily see him leave in the summer.

Re: ⚽ Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 3-2
However Dawson has performed well over the balance of the season and exceed our expectations, no one will convince me that he is a first team player if we are to progress as a football club.

Diop is the opposite. Young enough to develop, but doesn’t seem to really improve at the rate expected.

Aside from a striker and hopefully getting lingard, I hope we get a decent CB this summer.

It is rather simple to think a team that has shipped 10 goals in 4 games doesn’t have a big problem in defence.

The winning header was routine, and hardly "brave". It was caused by SHIT marking by Johnson.

fraser, it was a poor result but we seemed to get some of our medicine yesterday, as that's what we've been doing to sides all season on the break. If the sloppiness had continued for the ninety minutes I'd have been moaning myself, but I was really pleased how they dominated the remainder of the game and the winning header was brave, so I'm not blaming anyone for that. it's still in your hands, where we finish

fraser 10:02 Sun Apr 18
Re: ⚽ Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 3-2
Miike - unbelievable goal eh, Dawson getting sent off after presenting SM with the ball, only for him to have a pathetic shot which either keeper or defender should have stopped and niether did.

Yes my instinct is Fab was more at fault.

Re: ⚽ Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 3-2
I love fabianski but he's to blame for the first two goals. he should be telling diop "keeper's ball & fuck off", lack of communication is what caused that goal

fraser 9:50 Sun Apr 18
Re: ⚽ Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 3-2
I still can't work out other than Dawson who was more at fault for their first.

Diop obviously did well to get back and was trying to get on the line to clear

Did they both try to leave to each other or did Fab just fumble it, was a strange one.

Was just shit football before the goal, sideways passing, then back again. Not a single quick ball forward.

Dawson did the right things on a number of occasions passing the ball to Diop and Ogbonna only to have them pass it back to him.

It was so easy for them to defend deep against us the way we were set up.

Fortune favours the brave and that set up was anything but.

Dawson will be suspended anyway

Yeh, A few minutes of stupidity cost us, but we showed the strength of character to battle back with 10 men and nearly grab a point, which says a lot about our mindset now.
On to the west London nancy boys next.
Oh...and put your money on another 2-3 / 3-2 scoreline. (hopefully to us).
It seems the new West Ham way atm.

Alfs, I’ve had enough of Dawson, good defender but his moments of madness are starting to derail our amazing season. I guess you can argue that he has also helped secure points, but its starting to even out and perhaps he’s tired our something as the more game he plays the more mistakes we seem to get.
I hope Cresswell is back for Chelsea and we can go Diop Ogbonna Cresswell and drop Dawson.

Don't matter whether or not he'd fit our style perfectly.

All that matters is "Who is his agent?".

Seriously though, how good was Saint-Maximin? If we do end up getting into the Champions League and have a bit of money to play with, he'd fit our style perfectly.

Re: ⚽ Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 3-2
I agree with Grasshopper. Today's loss was down to Dawson. Both were reckless tackles. He got booked very early against Leicester, too.

Yes, he had a great start but has faded fast over the past five games and has cost us points. He needs to be dropped for Balbuena.

Re: ⚽ Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 3-2
With an injury free 11 playing we would have stuffed Newcastle there a piss poor side as their league status reflects..
Our squad should be miles stronger.Moyes has worked wonders with what he’s been given. To think Pellegrini squandered 80 odd million on Anderson and Haller is fucking criminal you can only wonder what was in it for him as both are fucking abysmal.

You truely are a fucking simpleton.
Dawson’s been a superb signing for us and Diops improving both made terrible errors today but Diop got a goal back and Dawson will know only too well what a fuck he made today.
Both errors were moments of madness it happens now and then unfortunately.

Can see Moyes setting up negatively again playing 5 across the back again v Chelsea, which will mean we will capitulate without so much as a whimper.
